I'll just quote Kanzenshuu's entire article: www.kanzenshuu.com/2012/11/14/…

-----

Earlier this morning, scans from one of Shueisha's "Jump" magazines (we have yet to confirm the specific magazine, though it is likely Ultra Jump, or possibly Weekly Shōnen Jump or V-Jump), promoting the upcoming 2013 Dragon Ball Z movie, were leaked in a 2ch thread. The pages confirm quite a lot about the movie, including Akira Toriyama's actual involvement with its production. It notes that he not only came up with the movie's original concept, but also the actual story and character designs. In addition, the page confirms the movie's title as "Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods", written as "神と神" (Kami to Kami) in Japanese.

The main tagline at the top of the page reads:

「神」のバトルが幕を開ける!!!
The curtain rises on the battle of "God(s)"!!!

The "神" character in the tagline is quite intriguing because it is written with the pronunciation "shin", as opposed to "kami" which is used in the movie's title. While both can mean "God", the "shin" pronunciation is not normally used with the kanji by itself, and may be punning on "new" (as in, "The curtain rises on a "new" battle"). Following that is a little tease about the movie itself, and its mysterious title:

謎に包まれたタイトル「神と神」とは…!?
発表された映画のタイトルは「神と神」!!これまで「DB」には様々な神様が登場したが、もしかして彼らと関係が…!?続報に期待大だッ!!
What is this title surrounded by mystery, "Battle of Gods (Kami to Kami)"…?!
The film's title has been announced as "Battle of Gods"!! Up to now, a variety of gods have appeared in Dragon Ball, but could it be that there's a connection to them…?! Be on the lookout for further information!!

The ad goes on to announce a special pre-sale "Collaboration Ticket" with the upcoming One Piece movie, "One Piece Film Z", which is a dual-ticket good for both films. The tickets will go on sale 23 November 2012 (Labor Thanksgiving, a national holiday in Japan) and cost ¥2,600 apiece. These tickets will be limited to 8,989 ("waku-waku", meaning "excitement") across Japan. The ticket itself will have a special new illustration by both Eiichirō Oda (author of One Piece) and Akira Toriyama to commemorate the release of the two films. A partial list of participating theaters is given at the bottom, with the fine print noting that tickets for "Battle of Gods" alone will go on sale on Saturday, 15 December 2012.

And so, our first apparently-solid confirmation of the 2013 film's title and subject-matter has arrived. As the new year approaches, the pace of new information and product promotions is sure to increase, so hold on to your hats…!

-----

Soooo, at the very least, the title is confirmed as real; imgbox.com/acuR1w3b www.imagebam.com/image/9099142… This makes it much more likely that the above poster is in fact legitimate, but I'm still waiting for complete confirmation.

Cabbit.

While it's possible to be chalked up to artistic license, it lacks a lot of jackal defining traits.

Really not sure how I feel about this one. :/ The villain looks... not threatening. The one in the middle could make up for it, though.

This is just one possible idea I had, Pilaf,s Gang are digging around in DBZ earths egypt and accidently realise the purple guy from his prison. Are new villian thanks them, blasts them and then begins realising others of his kind while are heros try and stop him despratly trying to prevent him from unleashing the final god, the guy in the piller of light. My idea is most likley nothing like the actual plot.

Also I have to say that I find it funny people are judging the villian by how he looks, DBZ had shown us time and again that judgeing a villian that way can be fatal as Majin Buu proved many times.

God I hope not. We don't need another big bad originating on Earth. A planet can only house so many threats before the disbelief sets in.

Sorry I ment to say around the universe not just earth because your right that would be bad. Also I now think the person in the back ground looks more like Ma'at the Goddess of Truth.

What I really want from this movie is a villian who dosent loose just because do fusion. Its happend in the series, movie 12 and even GT, which is why I hope that if the villians are egyption gods Ra might make an appierance and own Gogeta.

It could literally be based off of anyone, or maybe even no one buy Egyptian stuff in general. We won't know until an interview or something gives a little bit of background info.

No fusion has ever defeated anyone of importance, besides Gogeta in Movie 12.

I doubt it, but it is a possibility I guess. I just get the feeling they're talking about god more important than a Kami, since even the Kaioshin have long since been surpassed by our heroes.

The previous Kami was just one of the various Earthling species, and he died, a long time ago. That was the whole reason why our Kami took over the job, because he needed a replacement before dying.

Hmmm. When you just hear battle of the gods the only thing that comes to mind are Kami, and The Kaioshin. Plus form my knowledge there hasent been any egyptian looking planets in Z or GT and with the enemy having Egyptian like clothing maybe its some good released from Baba's Pyramid that the original Guardian before Kami sealed away or something.

Kami, Kaio, Kaioshin, plus the "Lord of Time". But, just because it says gods, doesn't mean its a god that was once good or even a god we know of. It could easily be a Makaio or Makaioshin, or even an entirely new deity. We don't have enough information to determine anything right now as we're only going off a picture and a title, both of which could still turn out to be fake (though I doubt it).

I always figured the Makaioshin were of Dabura's race or what Marble is from Young Jijii's Dragon Ball AF.I still think the enemy is from Earth simply cause of the Egyptian garb and the only thing with Egyptian influence in Z or GT is on Earth.

If Dabra was a Makaioshin, they would have noted that when the SEG introduced the term. Either Towa or probably the new girl in the background of the poster, maybe both, are the most likely Makaioshin candidates.

It's possible they are awakened on Earth, but I doubt they are from it. The Dragon Earth may have the only real Egyptian references we've seen, but it's not our Earth and there really isn't any similar culture there. Its just as likely that they could come from a new location, just like practically every new villain has previous to this.

I actually disagree. Movie 13 is actually one of the better examples, as we get a decent amount of narrative in the film's modern day events as well as background on the planet Conuts, how Hoi's group brought life to Hildegarn, how Tapion and Minoshia defeated him before, and how the threat was brought to Earth. Sure there are some minor issues, like Vegeta popping up out of nowhere, but you can easily assume that he wasn't interested in any of the events until Hildegarn trashed the Capsule Corporation; he does bitch about his house being damaged after all.

Movies 1-3, 5, 9 and 13 had the best stories IMO.

So many conflicting thoughts produced by this one poster D:

on one hand I really like the enemy, it's a great design, looks menacing and powerful while being slim enough that I can see him presenting some form of challenge in terms of speed or some form of magic/trickery that'll stop any battle with him from being all about brute strength. Though this IS Dragon Ball.

I also think with the inclusion of pilaf's gang there's a good chance the story will revolve around them awakening this creature somehow so a semi good storyline for a dragon ball film. If this poster's real and my speculation is right.

On the other hand though, woman in the background. Doesn't seem very dragon ball z-ish, looks like she wouldn't be out of place in a final fantasy game though which makes me think the poster mightn't be real. Gohan being super saiyan is a worry too, it does kind of make sense that being absorbed by buu he would have lost that mystical power-up just like vegetto de-fused but I don't like that :( it means Gohan isn't a beast anymore which kind of makes his power-up in the series an even more complete waste of time than it already was :').

I'll hold off getting "excited" about this new movie until something that's actually confirmed comes out but I've got to say, whoever created that villain did a great job, whether it's fake or real.

I agree, but I refuse to let them influence me until confirmation or debunking.

I think the enemy looks a little weird, but I've thought that about every villain and I eventually come to enjoy them at least a little bit...Chilled was a big offender fairly recently, and now I love 'im. lol But the magical theme the poster seems to contain does give me the feeling the film won't be all about power, maybe taking a bit of a hint from the recent Hatchihyack remake about having at least a bit of strategy involved.

Anything with Pilaf is a good sign. Dragon Ball is at its best when it doesn't take itself so seriously, like during the Cell Arc, and Pilaf and the gang are never involved with anything overly serious.

This seems to be the design of the woman (wasn't made by me): [link] It doesn't exactly feel like Dragon Ball, but it does feel like Toriyama's work...which seems weird when you think about it. Either way, it'll just take a bit of adjusting, like I have to do with pretty much every new design. For Gohan though, we don't know what's going on. Nothing in the series says he can't go SS anymore. It's possible they are following the game logic of having his lower transformations available and Ultimate as his final one, or maybe he trained enough to bypass the power-up and regain Super Saiyan as a beneficial transformation in preparation for...GT. lol Maybe he's lost it by not training, or maybe its starting to wear off as he's exiting his prime. We won't know anything (if it's real) until we see the film (where they probably won't explain anything on the matter xD).

The more I see this new enemy the easier it is for me to imagine him in the series, he really does fit well into the series. Can't shake this feeling that he's stole babidi's eyes though... On the topic of Chilled, I really didn't like his design. Though I've only watched the film once and subsequently seen him about 3 times afterwards :')

Seeing a bigger picture of her I do agree it looks toriyama's work, more specifically, something along the lines of dragon quest-ish character art.

In the previous poster it looked like they had Gohan in his ultimate form (the hair was very spiky and the bang looked quite long and pointy) so they could possibly be emulating the games but hopefully closer to the time of release they reveal a little more on the background of the characters between the defeat of Buu and this film, nothing too spoilerish though. Knowing Toriyama, he probably wont explain anything and leave it to never be answered :')

I'm still having some difficult accepting him right now (mainly because I'm not sure if I have to yet). It's been a pretty long time since we've had something animal looking in Dragon Ball, especially as a main villain. I initially hated Chilled's onepiece swimsuit armor and potbelly, but now I find them fun. His design makes him seem dated, which works since he's in the past, and the potbelly is just funny. xD

Yeah. Dragon Quest, Blue Dragon, Tobal, something along those lines.

Problem is, you can't go by posters. Dragon Ball has a major history of having the actual movie content differ from what was promoted, sometimes even in the trailers; characters in different forms, alternate colors, different costumes, having characters on posters who don't appear in the films, altered designs, etc. Toriyama himself is pretty good at filling in information though, at least what he deems important. It's Toei who doesn't like to explain anything, like at all half the time; GT being the perfect example. xD

Just remember that Dragon Ball basically has a trademark on transformations, so the "cabbit" may not stay looking like that. And there are handful of potential explanations for why Gohan could be a Super Saiyan...we just need to hope that we get one, unlike in GT.
